Music has been called the literature of the heart, the magic of life, the poetry of the air; and from the quote above, it appears that even Shakespeare considered it to be a fuel which can stoke the fires of romantic passion (no small feat!). Often, the simplest of melodies can in turn evoke profound feelings of nostalgia, serenity, and well-being. The mid-20th century produced such music.
